We are incredibly pleased to inform you that the quantity of vaccines to be delivered to the practice has been confirmed. We will be ready to vaccinate our patients with the vaccine from Monday 25th January 2021. We have been advised by Powys Teaching Health Board on the patients we are to invite to the practice, and these invitations will be made over the next week.
PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE PRACTICE TO ASK ABOUT THE VACCINE
It is critically important that the telephone lines are kept free for patients who need to access services.
We will be inviting patients in turn based on the guidance from JCVI and instruction from the Welsh Government, which can be found here Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation: advice on priority groups for COVID-19 vaccination, 30 December 2020 – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
In readiness for to receive the vaccine, we recommend our patients to read the patient information leaflet displayed on the home page. As with the flu clinic, we ask our patients to wear clothing with easy access to the top of the arm and to arrive on time.
All patients will need to bring identification with them to the appointment, and will be advised to not drive for 15 minutes post appointment, therefore patient may choose to walk or be driven by a household member as an alternative. The appointment for the second vaccine will be given during the first vaccine appointment. We are unable to administer the vaccine to symptomatic patients, or those who have had a positive test in the previous 28 days, but alternative arrangements will be made for those patients.
There is, of course, a risk that we may need to cancel appointments depending on staff and vaccine availability. However, we are making arrangements to safeguard this from happening, as far as possible.
